The most important thing for the Church to remain faithful to Christ is his Word. “Articles of faith must be proved only on the basis of the canonical books, and the writings of other people must be read in such a way that one can disapprove of them or reject them when they do not agree with canonical truth . . .” (Augustine). Even though these words are centuries old, they still remain true. The canonical books, the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments remain the only standard to determine what we should believe and how we should live. Lord, keep us steadfast to your Word!
